Second day of our trip to Kyushu was Hakat (博多); this is the center of Fukuoka prefecture. Sanyo shinkansen stop at this city, from here on you can continue your journey to the other cities in kyushu such as; kagoshima, nagasaki, and well that's the only two places that I know.

first night in Hakata, after we came from kita-kyushu, we visited tenjin (天神); shopping center, entertainment center is what Tenjin is. Major Department store also open their flagship store here. But this is not what we wanted, tenjin is similar to Osaka-umeda or shinjuku-tokyo. We wanted to eat the famous hakata ramen at  Yatai (food stall). Yatai is a food stall along the street they have chair/bench for you to sit and eat. Yatai can be find anywhere in the town but usually they are located along the river. After asking the tourist information center we walked 15 mins from tenjin to the canal city where the yatai are located. there are around 10 food stall and all of them were full so we have to wait. One menu catched aour attention 'Grilled ramen' (焼ラーメン). After finished eating at one yatai, we moved to another yatai. in the next yatai we tried the famous 'Hakata Ramen' (博多ラーメン) and 'Grilled cod roe' (焼明太子).

This is how they cook the grilled ramen

The next morning, we visited one of the famous park in fukuoka Ohori park (大堀公園). This is a chinese garden with big lake and a chinese pavillion . there is a little island in the middle of the lake. from ohori park we went to fukuoka tower near the fukuoka bay. there is a beach in front of  the fukuoka tower, but the water was a little bit cold at that time so couldn't play i n the water. from fukuoka we went to canal city visited the ramen stadium and some little shopping.

From canal city, we went straight to hakata station to our bus terminal, time to go back to Osaka. Overall I like Hakata, I seriously consider about living in this city, but then I realized that there are not many International flight to fukuoka. That will be a problem for me when I want to go back to Indonesia. I find out that Hakata is cheaper than Osaka. city bus start from 100 yen. they even have the 100 yen bus that will take you to famous destination. Taxi is also cheaper, in Osaka the initial cost of taxi is 680 yen in fukuoka it is start from 580 yen. on the last part of this post, I will tell you how much I spend for this trip. If you want to go by shinkansen from Osaka the return ticket for nozomi around 28000 yen, it is covered by Japan rail pass but of course not with nozomi. If you want to go by plane there are many flights to fukuoka by JAL or ANA. Peach airline, Japan low cost carrier also have flight to fukuoka from Kansai International airport, during low season return ticket is around 10000 yen , could be less.

Total cost
return night bus ticket : 12000 yen
one night hotel in Hakata : 4600yen/night/2 person (really Cheap!!!I was surprised myself
Shinkansen kokura-hakata (one way) : 2200 yen (non reserved seat)
eating/omiyage/transportation : 10000 yen (this is basically what I reserved to spent in this two days trip)
